18 months old today!

Today is July 10th, Jack is officially a year and a half old now. I don't think I've ever felt like so much time has passed so quickly before. Our little baby is really becoming a big boy, and it seems, especially these last few weeks, that he is just picking up on so much. Potty training is just around the corner, his vocabulary is building steadily (Momma, Dadda, doggy, kitty, cat, dog, hot, hi, hat, uh ohh, cheese, eat, and a few others I can't remember off hand), and he's now getting into the fine art of animal noises: He roars like a lion, curls his arm like a monkey (and climbs on everything like a monkey too), and raises his arm (trunk) while making an elephant noise. We're currently working on mooing like a cow. And while he is working on these things a little each day, his level of comprehension is astounding. He's at the point where he is taking direction, making corrections to his behavior based on verbal commands, and responding appropriately to sentences, rather than just words. Jack is also a master at mimicking our behavior. He stirs stuff when he sees us stir, he combs his hair when we do, brushes his teeth, pretends to put on deodorant, tries to put keys in door locks, puts hats on that we wear, pretends to race cars on the Wii, puts on make-up with mommy, etc. etc. etc. He only has to see us do it once, and the next thing you know, out of the corner of your eye, you see him doing something you did five minutes ago...so so funny. On Monday we take him in for his 18 month well-baby visit. Ah his 15 month visit the doctor wanted him to gain some weight at set our goal at having Jack weigh 23 lbs. by 18 months. Jack weighed himself on the scale the other day (true story, there's that mimicking again) and tipped the balance at 23.8 lbs! This will be his last scheduled visit with the doctor, and last vaccination until he turns two.

  1. He sounds like a busy guy, you must be tired just trying to keep up.
